Wayne State College To Celebrate Homecoming

Wayne State College will celebrate Homecoming weekend Oct. 6-8. 

"Homecoming is a terrific time for alumni to return to the beautiful Wayne State campus and reconnect with classmates, professors, former roommates, and friends,'' said Laura (Burtwistle) Robinett '13, director of alumni relations at Wayne State College. “Military alumni will return for a special reunion brunch and be honored during the national anthem at the football game. Alumni can also enjoy the Homecoming Parade, tailgate party, volleyball and football games, coronation, affinity reunions, and many more activities.’’

Outstanding Alumni

Graduates from each of the college's four schools will be honored at the Outstanding Alumni Banquet on Oct. 7 at 5:30 p.m. Alumni honored will include: Herb Mignery '55-'59, School of Arts and Humanities; Brian Elliott '77, School of Business and Technology; Matthew Blomenkamp, MSE '02 and Education Specialist '09, School of Education and Counseling; and Keith Olsen '77, School of Natural and Social Sciences.

Hall of Fame

The Homecoming and Hall of Fame Banquet will take place on Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m. Hall of Fame inductees include: Kathy (Dalton) Hinrichs ('97), women's track and cross country; Dustin Jones '07, baseball; Jennifer Hefner '11, volleyball; and Dr. James Lindau, contributor. The 2004 and 2005 baseball teams will also be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and Bruce O'Neel '96 will receive the Alumni Service Award.

A football affinity reunion is planned with an opportunity for former players to watch the game and tailgate on Saturday. Other reunions include Mass Communication, Carhart Science and RHOP (Rural Health Opportunities Program), Honored Classes Brunch (Classes of '66, '76, and '91), GOLD Club Tailgate (Graduates of the Last Decades), and Military Reunion Brunch.

Homecoming coronation will be on Oct. 7 in Ramsey Theatre at 8:30 p.m. The Homecoming parade will begin at the south end of Main Street downtown at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Oct. 8. The Wildcats will kick off against Augustana at 1 p.m. for the Homecoming football game.
