Due to the forecasted extreme cold temperatures, Wayne State College College will close at 5 p.m. Feb. 17. All classes and activities are canceled beginning at 5 p.m. Feb. 17, through 12 p.m. Feb. 18, unless otherwise noted. The Student Center, Upper Dining and Cats Corner will remain open until 7 p.m. Feb. 17, and reopen at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 18 for normal operating hours.
The Rec Center and Conn Library will close at 5 p.m. Feb. 17 and will reopen at 12 p.m. Feb. 18.
The College will reopen for normal operations at 12 p.m. Feb. 18.
Employees who are currently scheduled to work during hours the campus is closed will not be required to use vacation or other paid leave time to cover this absence from work. The leave is categorized as paid, administrative leave. Normal procedures for reporting this administrative leave and hours worked will be followed. Administrative leave does not apply to students or temporary employees.
Employees who are required to remain at work for emergency or other essential services will be allowed an equal number of hours off on an alternate date mutually agreed upon by the supervisor and the employee. Supervisors will notify employees no later than 1 p.m. if they are required to report to work during the closure period to provide such services.
