A Touch of Brass will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, in Ramsey Theatre, located in the Peterson Fine Arts Building at Wayne State College. The concert is free and open to the public.
The concert will also be livestreamed. The program will be accessible by selecting the event from the Music Events list.
Repertoire showcases the virtuosic talent of the group. For example, “Just a Closer Walk” arranged by Don Gillis, features a slow New Orleans style intro morphing into a lively Dixieland-style melody. Other selections include “What a Wonderful World” by George David Weiss, a ballad made famous by Louis Armstrong; the legendary and recognizable “William Tell Overture” by Gioachino Rossini; and the memorable and familiar “When I’m 64” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
A Touch of Brass members are David Bohnert, trumpet; Kevin McLouth, trumpet; Gary Reeves, horn; Randy Neuharth, trombone; and Josh Calkin, tuba. The group has entertained audiences in Northeast Nebraska and the surrounding area for more than 30 years.
