The exhibit, "Take Your Time," runs through March 19.
“Take Your Time,” an art exhibit featuring works by Terry Ratzlaff of Lincoln, opens at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery, located on the main level of Conn Library at Wayne State College. An artist lecture precedes the opening at 3:45 p.m. in Connell Hall, Room 131.
Both events are free and open to the public, and the exhibit runs through March 19.
Photography and book art dominate Ratzlaff’s artwork with a distinct passion for trains and time. His works highlight single-image sequencing to better interpret modern perceptions of time, history, technological progress, and adverse effects on human consciousness.
Ratzlaff currently serves as assistant professor of digital media at Nebraska Wesleyan University. He also operates The Basement Window, making small edition artist books and boxes. His artistry has been featured in “The New York Times,” “Vanity Fair,” “Bloomberg Businessweek,” “The Wall Street Journal,” “ESPN,” and many other acclaimed publications.
Ratzlaff earned his bachelor of arts degree from The Art Institute of Colorado and his master of fine arts degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 3 to 7 p.m. It is closed Saturday. Shows end at noon on closing day.
