Purchase tickets by Nov. 29. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, and 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.
Greet the holidays with joyful music and sweet treats at the Wayne State College Cocoa and Carols events at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, and 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. General admission tickets are $12 each.
The deadline for purchasing tickets is Nov. 29. All sales are final with no exchanges or refunds. Limited seating is available.
Events will be held in the Dr. Ray Kelton Instrumental Hall in the Peterson Fine Arts Building, complete with theatrical lighting and festive décor. Holiday repertoire includes classic gems such as “Silent Night,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” and selections from “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” Compositions by Michael Praetorius, Jacob Handl, J.S. Bach, and Morten Lauridsen are also featured. Enjoy an assortment of cookies and candy plus cocoa while taking in the sights and sounds.
Performances by the Wayne State Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Lyrica, and Fortis are directed by Dr. Matthew Armstrong, with piano accompaniment by Shelly Armstrong. Wayne State student Christopher Woerdemann of Wayne will serve as assistant director of Fortis. Guest performances include Dr. Karl Kolbeck, clarinet; the Wayne High School Jazz Choir, directed by Tracy Anderson, on Dec. 6; and the Sioux City West High School Madrigals, directed by Noah Towns, on Dec. 7.
