The festive and familiar Wayne State College President’s Holiday Gala celebrates the season at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, in Ramsey Theatre, located in the Peterson Fine Arts Building. The annual event is part of Wayne State’s Black & Gold Performing Arts Series.
Tickets are required and are $10 each for the public. Wayne State students, faculty, and staff attend free, but must obtain a ticket using their NUID number on the ticketing website.
Holiday decorations and prelude music, provided by the Wayne State Clarinet Ensemble and Brass Knuckles, will welcome attendees at 1:35 p.m. in the Peterson Fine Arts lobby. The Gala features choral, instrumental, and solo performances by Wayne State student and faculty performers. Repertoire highlights feature holiday favorites such as “White Christmas,” “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” and traditional carols from around the world.
Wayne State student soloists include Christopher Woerdemann of Wayne, Neb.; Kora Keslin of McCook, Neb.; and Isaac Voboril of Pleasant Dale, Neb. Wayne State faculty and staff members Dr. Karl Kolbeck, Shelly Armstrong, and Dr. Angela Miller-Niles will also perform. Group performances include the Wayne State Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Lyrica, and Fortis. A reception, sponsored by Dr. Marysz Rames, president of Wayne State, will follow the performance, and it will be held in the Kanter Student Center’s Frey Conference Suite.
