Say hello to Wayne State junior Rylee Frohberg of Norfolk, Neb. Frohberg, who is majoring in Psychology and Sociology, is this week’s subject of the student spotlight series.

Frohberg admits she was on her way to majoring in Pre-Nursing, but taking some psychology and sociology courses made her change her path.

“Once I started learning more and more about behavior, I became more and more interested,” said Frohberg.

In addition to pursuing her degree, Frohberg currently works at Integrated Life Choices in Norfolk where she supports those who are intellectually and developmentally disabled. She said her Wayne State classes are extremely helpful during her workday.

“I’m always looking to help someone with their behavior, whether it be with shaping behavior or reinforcing behavior,” said Frohberg. “The rewarding part is helping someone learn about other choices and options available when they are going about their daily routine. It’s great when you can help someone make a positive adjustment in their life.”

While Wayne State is close to home, Frohberg said it was scholarships that sold her on coming to Wayne State. Also, she’d been on campus many times before for volleyball camps and other events.

“When I took my tour of Wayne State, everything just felt right,” said Frohberg. “The instructors have been fantastic, and they take a genuine interest in you as a person. Dr. (Jeff) Shelton is really amazing, and I’ve been fortunate enough to take at least one class with him every semester, and I hope that streak continues.” Shelton is an assistant professor of sociology.

At Wayne State, Frohberg serves as president of Alpha Kappa Delta (sociology honor society) and as vice president of the Psychology/Sociology Club. She is also active in Psi Chi (psychology honor society), Pi Gamma Mu (international honor society in the social sciences), and the Honors Program.

Frohberg will graduate in May 2026, and she intends to pursue a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wayne State.
