Part of the 2024-25 Student Spotlight series, featuring Abbigail Brodersen of Albion, Neb.
When she was a little girl growing up in Albion, Abbigail Brodersen probably didn’t know that someday she’d be more interested in building Barbie’s Dreamhouse than playing with it. The Wayne State senior, who is majoring in Construction Management and Drafting and Design, is this week’s subject of the student spotlight series.
To say that Brodersen is driven would be an understatement; she already has a job lined up after graduation. She’ll be working as a field engineer with Turner Construction in Omaha.
“My goal is to learn as much as I can and then own my own construction company someday,” said Brodersen. “My dad owns BLU Roofing in Albion, so I get the project management side of the industry. I’ve worked there since 2021 doing customer service, inspections and quotes for damage, and creating material orders.”
As a member of the Wildcat golf team, Brodersen applies that same drive and work ethic on the golf course during tournaments. She says golf is what brought her to Wayne State.
“It was great to win the Sioux Falls tournament a few weeks ago, but our main focus is to make regionals this year,” said Brodersen. “We’ve put in a lot of work and regionals is definitely within our reach.”
At Wayne State, Brodersen is president of Epsilon Pi Tau (industrial technology honor society), and she’s a member of the Philomathean President’s Honor Society, the Honors Program, and Alpha Lambda Delta (first-year academic success honor society).
Brodersen will graduate in May 2025.
