DeMoine AdamsDeMoine Adams, a former Husker football star and current CEO of the TeamMates Mentoring Program, will present his motivational program at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Gardner Auditorium (Gardner Hall) at Wayne State College. The public is invited to attend.

TeamMates was founded by Tom and Nancy Osborne in 1991. The former head football coach at Nebraska felt that the athletes in his program could make an impact on the middle school students, and 22 football players began meeting with middle school students in the Lincoln Public Schools. Of the 22 original mentees, 21 went on to graduate from high school, while one left school early to pursue a successful Motocross career. Eighteen of the original mentees also obtained some form of post-secondary education.

Adams speaks numerous times each year to various groups and organizations across the country, motivating others to be winners in life through his business called “The Game Plan – Ready, Set, Perform,” which he began in 2011.

A native of Pine Bluff, Ark., Adams was instrumental in helping the Huskers win a Big 12 Conference title in 1999. Adams also spent time in the National Football League with the Green Bay Packers, Tennessee Titans, and San Franciso 49ers. Adams earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and his master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and he is currently pursuing a doctorate degree.

The program is being presented by Wayne State’s chapter of Delta Sigma Pi, a coed professional business organization that focuses on the professional development of its members. Delta Sigma Pi also hosts several community service, fundraising, and social events each year.
