WSC to Host 2024 Family Day and Little Siblings Weekend Sept. 14-15

It's a weekend of fun activities for Wayne State students and their families.

Wayne State College is excited to welcome students and their families for Family Day and Lil’ Sibs Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-15.

Here is a schedule of activities:

9 a.m.-noon: Check-in at the Kanter Student Center atrium

  • Balloon animals and body art (all free while supplies last)
  • Purchase meal tickets from Fresh Ideas (brunch is $10 adult, $5 child; dinner is $10.50 adult, $5 child; and package deal of both brunch and dinner is $18.50 adult, $9 child)
  • Pick up free tickets for planetarium shows. All shows are in the Fred G. Dale Planetarium, located on the lowest level of the Carhart Science Building. Enter through the southwest doors. Once inside, go to the stairs at the south end of the building and go down to the lowest level. You may also take the elevator. Carhart Science and the planetarium are handicap accessible. Doors open 20 minutes prior to the start of a show, and all shows last about 45 minutes.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Natural History Museum open, Carhart Science Building, Room 113
Interactive exhibits of prehistoric life, geology, as well as modern birds and mammals will be on display.

10:15 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Lunch in the upper dining room, Kanter Student Center (meal ticket required)

11 a.m.: “STARS” planetarium show

Noon: “Astronaut” planetarium show

1 p.m.: “Oasis in Space” planetarium show

1-3 p.m.: “Games on the Green,” games and other activities, Bowen Hall lawn

2 p.m.: “Earth, Moon, and Sun” planetarium show

3 p.m.: “Two Small Pieces of Glass” planetarium show

4:30 p.m.: Sean Bott, comedy mentalist – a free mentalist performance, Ramsey Theatre (Fine Arts Building)

5-6 p.m.: Tailgate at Bob Cunningham Field (south end zone), tickets can be purchased on site

5-7 p.m.: Dinner in the upper dining room, Kanter Student Center (meal ticket required)

6 p.m.: Football kickoff vs. Minnesota State-Mankato, tickets can be purchased on site (enjoy fireworks after the game!)

8-10 p.m.: Check in at front desk of WSC student’s residence hall
