School Counseling Master's Degree (MSE)

About the School Counseling Master's Program

School counselors combine their desire to help others with an interest in an educational setting. Endorsement as a school counselor is accomplished through the Department of Education in the state where a school counselor is employed. For example, in Nebraska, certification requires the Master of Science in Education (MSE) degree in school counseling, a valid Nebraska teaching certificate, and verification of two years of successful teaching experience or completion of the educational class requirements (which are built into the MSE in School Counseling at WSC). The master's in school counseling program will prepare you well on the path to become a school counselor in Nebraska. If you are hoping to use your degree in a different state, we recommend reviewing the educational requirements for that state.
