Public Affairs (MSOM) Program of Study

The online master’s in public affairs (MSOM) is a cooperative program between Chadron State (CSC), Peru State (PSC), and Wayne State College (WSC) in Nebraska. This means you can take the core courses of the program through any of these three institutions, then take classes for the public affairs focus area through Wayne State.

MSOM core courses: 18 hours

3 hours from one of the following:

  • CA 615 Research Process and Practice (3)
  • CNA 565 Qualitative Research Design (3)
  • EDCI 631 Intro to Graduate Study (3)
  • EDU 603 Introduction to Educational Research Design (3)
  • MGMT 601 Study Design and Data Collection (3)
  • PED 650 Research Design (3)

3 hours from one of the following:

  • MATH 533 Stats Methods/Data Analysis (3)
  • MGMT 602 Stats Methods/Data Analysis (3)
  • PED 622 Stats Applications/Data Analysis (3)
  • PSYCH 538 Behavioral Statistics (3)

One course from each of the following four areas (12 hours):

Leadership

Note: If a student would like to emphasize leadership in their program of study they may, with special permission from their advisor, take two leadership courses from the above area as part of their 12 hours.

Organizational behavior

Thesis, scholarly project, or internship: 6 hours

The focus of this part of the program will be to emphasize knowledge integration and application of learned principles.
