About the Pre-Oceanography Program
The study of oceanography is as deep and wide as the ocean itself. Oceanographers study the biology, geology, chemistry, and physics of the oceans. You can start your path to an Oceanography degree, Marine Biology degree, or other similar subject right here at Wayne State College in our Pre-Oceanography program. After spending two years here working on foundational courses, you can transfer to another school offering an Oceanography or Marine Biology program, ultimately earning your bachelor’s degree from them. Or, you can work on a degree in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Mathematics here at WSC and then pursue Oceanography in graduate school.

Service-Learning
Make a difference in the community while learning skills you can apply toward your future career. Wayne State’s Service-Learning program has received national awards in recognition of outstanding community service, with more than 400 students participating in Service-Learning projects each semester.
Opportunities

Internships
Internships are not required for the Pre-Oceanography program at Wayne State College, as these are typically completed in professional school for degree completion. However, Career Services is available to help you find job opportunities if you are looking for field-related work experience.
