A minor in family life studies practices skills in leadership, working with other people, creativity, flexibility, patience, and good communication. If you possess these traits, you are a good candidate for this minor. Through coursework, you’ll explore how people form relationships and families, and how they develop, grow and interact within a family structure. You’ll be prepared for careers involved in the improvement of individual, family, and community well-being, as well as impacting the development, delivery, and evaluation of consumer goods and services. These careers could include the fields of social work, counseling, education, advocacy, health, or research. Because the opportunities in this field are diverse and many career options exist, the family life studies minor pairs well with a variety of majors.
