Physics Minor

The physics minor at Wayne State College is an excellent way to supplement your major and expand your credentials as a future employee. Physics is a study of the fundamentals of nature that complements and enhances other sciences, such as biology, chemistry, mathematics, or computer science. But it is more than just learning about the world. It expands how we think about and understand the world around us. Beyond the sciences, a physics minor pairs well with several other programs at Wayne State College, including business management, mathematics, health science, journalism, etc. While pure physics is projected to grow 14 percent by 2026, (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2017), a physics minor positively enhances your resume and visibility. The skills and knowledge you’ll learn by studying physics aresought by many and diverse occupations. A physics minor tells a future employer that this individual is hard working, intelligent, competent, and can bring diverse skills to the workplace.

Required Courses: 21 hours

A minor must include a minimum of 12 hours unduplicated by your major(s) and minor(s).

  • PHY 201 General Physics I or PHI 301 University Physics I (3-4)
  • PHY 202 General Physics II or PHI 302 University Physics II (3-4)
  • PHI 321 Physics Laboratory I (1)
  • PHI 322 Physics Laboratory II (1)
  • Upper level physics (PHY) electives by advisement (11-13)
