I am writing to inform you of a marching band parade contest to be held at Wayne State College this fall and to ask you to strongly consider participation.
Band Day is a parade contest featuring area bands in competition or for judges’ comments only. The 2017 parade will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The parade will begin at the intersection of First and Main Streets and travel north to WSC (about 14 blocks). The WSC Wildcat Marching Band will also perform a short exhibition in the Willow Bowl at the conclusion of the parade and prior to the presentation of the awards.
Bands will be sorted by school size into Classes D2 through B1 and a first place trophy will be awarded in each class along with a $200.00 scholarship to any member of a winning band who attends WSC and participates in the Wildcat Bands. We will also have an Open Class for any bands wishing to participate, but not compete (including junior high school bands). As in the past, each participating band will receive a plaque of recognition. There is no charge to participate in this event.
To participate, please complete the application.
I hope you will seriously consider attending Band Day this fall at Wayne State College, and I look forward to hearing your band perform soon! Feel free to contact me anytime at 402-375-7363 or email@example.com.
