Courses for the online master's program in Science Education
Degree offered: Master of Science in Education (MSE) - Curriculum & Instruction-Instructional Leadership/Science Education

All courses are available online. Students will take a mixture of core education courses, courses for the science emphasis area, and electives.
Professional education core: 12 credit hours
- EDU 603 Introduction to Educational Research and Design (3)
- EDU 652 Instructional Theory and Practice (3)
- EDU 658 Fundamentals of Curriculum Development PK-16 (3)
- EDU 674 History and Philosophy of Education (3)
Science education concentration: 15-21 credit hours
Must take at least one course in each of the following areas:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Earth Science
- Physics
Additional courses must be in the above areas including courses with NAT prefix.
Electives: 3-9 credit hours
600 level or above

Licensing and Certification: This program is designed for teachers who are already certified in this content area as an opportunity to go deeper into their specialty while simultaneously earning a master’s degree. This program does not meet initial certification/licensure requirements through the Nebraska Department of Education. It has not been determined if this program meets requirements for all other states.
