Thomas Browning

Dr. Tom Browning teaches education courses at Wayne State College, including foundations courses such as Introduction to Professional Education, Diverse Family Systems, PK-12 Instructional Design, and Human Development and Cognition. Prior to teaching at WSC, Dr. Browning was a high school science teacher in central Indiana and earned the 2009 IPL Golden Apple Award. He has made several professional presentations and authored a variety of publications, including “Countering Deficit Discourse: Preservice Teacher Experiences of Core Reflection” in Teaching and Teacher Education.

Academic Interests
Dr. Browning’s academic interests include equity literacy, year-long residency programs, science education, core reflection, and bridging the “theory/practice gap.”
