Melissa Derechailo

Dr. Melissa Derechailo is the theater manager for Ramsey and Ley theaters at Wayne State, as well as a lecturer in music appreciation and horn. She also teaches music industry classes.

Before beginning her doctoral work she taught public school in Asheville, N.C., and was a horn lecturer at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. While teaching, she maintained an active playing schedule as a member of the Asheville Symphony and Greater Spartanburg Philharmonic. Upon graduation from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, she served as the conservatory’s concert manager for two years before moving to Wayne.

She currently serves on the board of the Wayne Community Theatre.
