Scholarships come in many different forms, many different sizes, and from many different places. Scholarships at Wayne State may be awarded for a single year or for multiple years and can range anywhere from $100 to full tuition. No matter which scholarship awards you receive, we are focused on you and your academic achievements.

Merit Scholarships

Awards for first-year students with strong academic performance in high school.

Neihardt Scholars Program

Amount: Full tuition renewable for four years, renewable double occupancy room waiver, and $500 annual stipend.

Eligibility Requirements: Must have an ACT of at least 25 or an SAT of at least 1200, and have a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale for six semesters. Program offers special classes and advising. Must maintain a 3.3 GPA to renew.

Application Deadline: Dec. 1

Presidential Scholarship

Amount: Full tuition renewable for four years.

Eligibility Requirements: Must have an ACT score of at least 30 or an SAT of at least 1390. Must maintain a 3.0 GPA to renew.

Application Deadline: Dec. 1

Leadership Award

Amount: Double occupancy room waiver for one year, renewable up to two years.

Eligibility Requirements: For students who are very active in high school leadership and plan to continue that involvement in college. Must maintain a 2.0 to renew.

Application Deadline: Dec. 1

Education Matters Scholarship

Amount: $2,000 annual tuition award renewable up to four years.

Eligibility Requirements: All students who have demonstrated academic success, have made a commitment to extensive high school involvement, and other significant leadership and volunteer opportunities will be considered. Must maintain a 3.0 GPA to renew.

Application Deadline: Dec. 1

Annual and Endowed Scholarships

Amount: Varies.

Eligibility Requirements: Criteria varies. Over 200 types of individual scholarships are available from the WSC Foundation for students who meet the scholarship criteria. Complete your scholarship application through AwardSpring to find out which annual and endowed scholarships you qualify for.

Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP)

Amount: Full tuition while students are enrolled at WSC. Automatic acceptance to UNMC.

Eligibility Requirements: For students from rural areas of Nebraska (not Lincoln or Omaha), who demonstrate academic potential and a desire to practice clinical laboratory science, dental hygiene, dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant, or radiography in rual Nebraska.  For additional eligibility guidelines visit www.wsc.edu/rhop.

Application Deadline: Nov. 15

Rural Law Opportunities Program (RLOP)

Amount: Full tuition while students are enrolled at WSC. Automatic acceptance to University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law.

Eligibility Requirements: For students from rural areas of Nebraska (not Lincoln or Omaha), who demonstrate academic potential and a desire to practice law in rural Nebraska. For additional eligibility guidelines, visit www.wsc.edu/rlop.

Other Scholarship Opportunities

Not all scholarships are based on your test scores.  Some are based on your unique talents, abilities, and other personal qualities. 

NSCS Advantage Program

Amount: Varies according to individual pell Grant elibility.

Eligibility Requirements: Must be a Nebraska resident, Federal Pell Grant recipient, new freshman, and enrolled in at least 12 credit hours on campus. Learn More.

NSCS Board of Trustees Scholarship

Amount: Full tuition renewable for four years.

Eligibility Requirements: Must be a Nebraska resident with an ACT of at least 25 or an SAT of at least 1200. Must maintain a 3.25 GPA to renew.

Application Deadline: Jan. 15

NSCS Governor's Opportunity Award

Amount: Half tuition renewable for four years.

Eligibility Requirements: Must be a Nebraska resident with an ACT score between 21-24 or an SAT score between 1060-1190. Must maintain a 3.0 GPA to renew.

Application Deadline: Dec. 1

Nebraska Access Scholarship Program

Amount: Reduces non-resident tuition to resident rates.

Eligibility Requirements: Available to non-resident full-time students. Must be in upper 1/2 of high school class, or have a 3.25 GPA, or an ACT of at least 22, or an SAT of at least 1100.  Must maintain a 3.0 GPA to renew.

Athletic Scholarships

Amount: Varies.

Eligibility Requirements: Athletic scholarships are determined by the coaching staff of each individual sport.

Art and Music Scholarships

Amount: Varies.

Eligibility Requirements: Art and music scholarships are determined by the individual department. May require an audition or a sample of your work.

Affordability

Not only do we offer the regions's most affordable tuition, we provide generous financial aid awards to help defray your remaining costs. Many out-of-state residents even receive reduced tuition rates, or resident tuition rates, based on state of residency.
