From Dr. Tammy Evetovich, Dean of the School of Natural and Social Sciences
I am proud to welcome prospective students and their parents to the School of Natural and Social Sciences. The school features award-winning faculty dedicated to delivering a challenging, yet rewarding, learning environment. As a result of recent renovations to our classrooms and laboratories, and by adopting the latest instructional technologies, we provide a strong foundation upon which you can build a successful future.
With nearly 60 programs of study and 22 minors, we have a place for you in the WSC family. You will enjoy one-on-one interactions with faculty from the beginning of your studies through graduation. Many of our students engage in internships, service learning, study abroad trips, and undergraduate research projects, some receiving top honors for their presentations at regional and national professional conferences. Moreover, many of our students go on to enroll in graduate school and earn advanced degrees in their areas of interest.
With these advantages and opportunities, it is no surprise that WSC enjoys a 99.8% job placement rate. For example, recent NSS graduates are now practicing professionals in many health care fields including medicine, physical therapy, dentistry, physician’s assistant, nursing, and pharmacy. In addition, our Criminal Justice students succeed at finding employment with local police departments, the state patrol, regional correctional facilities, and homeland security.
Interested in health and wellness? Our program of study in Exercise Science prepares you for a career as a wellness coach, personal trainer, or exercise specialist. If the business of sport appeals to you, our Sport Management faculty train students for occupations in college and professional athletics, sport facility and event management, or sport marketing and media relations.
Our graduates have found their place working for state senators in the political arena, counseling alcohol and drug abuse patients, and using geospatial technology to help companies solve problems. And many of our students pursue endorsements to become high school teachers in science, math, physical education, social studies, and other fields.
Whether a prospective freshman, transfer student, or someone returning for further education, you can find a major in the School of Natural and Social Sciences. If any of our exciting career opportunities interest you, please contact me for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org or 402-375-7030. We can help you find your focus at Wayne State!
