Application Forms and Information

Here are the applications to compete in the 2018 Nebraska Science Bowls.

Middle School Application (2018)

High School Application (2018)

Map of counties for the Eastern Nebraska High School regional: county map.

The Nebraska Middle School regional currently includes the entire state.

A typical team comprises six people: four contestants plus one alternate contestant from grades 9-12 (high school) or grades 6-8 (middle school), and a coach. There is an $90 application fee per team. The application fee helps to defray the cost of meal vouchers, t-shirts, and awards. If any number of your teams are not approved to participate, the appropriate portion of your application fee will be returned. There will otherwise be no refund.

A school may apply to enter a maximum of three teams in the Nebraska Science Bowl. The competition will be limited to 40 teams; applications to compete are approved on a first-received, first-accepted basis. Space permitting, eligible first teams will be automatically approved to participate; five weeks prior to the regional event and space permitting, second teams will be approved to participate; and three weeks prior to the regional event and space permitting, third teams will be approved to participate. While emailed notifications of intent to apply are appreciated, only the completed, signed, and original Nebraska High Science Bowl application will reserve a team slot.

After your application has been received and accepted, you will be given instructions regarding registering your team(s) online. Do not register your team(s) online until you have been notified via email about the status of a team’s application approval. You will be notified by email whether your first team was approved to participate, followed by emails regarding the approval of the second and third teams, if applicable. Coaches of approved teams will be furnished additional competition information in the High School Coach's Handbook no later than the end of November.

Each student attending the Eastern Nebraska High School Science Bowl MUST have a school-furnished permission slip signed by the parent or legal guardian on record at the school. Local, authorized school officials (principal or superintendent) must attend to this matter.
