May 1, 2020

Wayne State College has announced that all face-to-face summer courses will be shifted to remote delivery due to continued restrictions and guidelines for social distancing from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. Students will be charged tuition and fees based on the original course delivery mode noted in WildCats Online. Those enrolled in courses originally designated as online during registration will be charged the online course rate. Learn more.

Adjusted Hours

Wayne State residence halls, dining hall, Conn Library, Kanter Student Center, academic support services, Campus Service Center, Rec Center, Student Health Office, Counseling Center, and the Campus Bookstore remain open, with some adjusted hours.

Residence Halls

Residence halls are open and will remain open through the end of the semester.

Dining Hours

Upper Cafeteria (Monday-Sunday)
Brunch: 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Dinner: 5:30-6:30 p.m. Dinner will include a boxed meal pick-up option for the next morning.

Cat's Corner: Closed

Einstein Bros. Bagels (library): Closed

Student Health

Open for standard hours (8 a.m.- 5 p.m. with visits to the physician assistant scheduled from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.)

Rec Center

Hours of operation, including the arena, cardio areas, and the weight room:

8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday
8 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday
12-5 p.m. Saturday
5-10 p.m. Sunday

Exercise classes have been canceled for the remainder of Spring 2020.

Academic Delivery Plans

We have reached out to all faculty members where students indicated they had not received their academic delivery plans. Please note that faculty may be posting these within Canvas, sending to your WSC email account, or sending to your preferred email that you have noted in WildcatsOnline. If you have checked these locations and still have not received a plan, please use the form at https://bit.ly/3daGyvq or the COVID-19 hotline at 402-375-7562.

Technology Support for Remote Learning

View our technology FAQs and resources to help get you started as you transition to remote teaching and learning methods. The technology and connectivity survey is still live at https://bit.ly/2QmvOA5. If you have not completed the survey, please do so at your earliest convenience.

Bookstore and Textbooks

Students have a 15-day extension until May 23 for return of rental books. You can ship your books back by printing a FedEx label from your rental account that provides free shipping. You can also sell your purchased books back to the bookstore. Get the details.

Campus Events and Visits

All campus visits are suspended. If you have questions about campus visits, please call 402-375-7234. All on-campus events are canceled through April 24. Student Activities is working on virtual events. Stay tuned for details on these creative ways to engage with us from a distance.

Class Registration and Housing Applications

Class registration will happen as scheduled. Please look for communication from your advisor to set a time, date, and method of communication to get registered for Summer/Fall 2020. You can also apply for Fall 2020 housing now by logging into myWSC, selecting the “Show More Applications” icon and choosing “StarRez Housing Application” from the list of applications available.


The May 9 commencement ceremonies will not take place. However, WSC plans to hold a commencement ceremony this summer (conditions permitting). A date will be selected and announced at a later time. Get the details.

Housing and Meal Plan Refunds

Students who choose to return to their permanent place of residence will receive refunds for housing and meal plans. Off-campus students can also select to receive a meal plan refund. These refunds will be processed by April 10, 2020. Please monitor your email from Wayne State for an estimated amount of your refund that will be credited to your student account. Refunds will be issued either by direct deposit for those already in our system or by check mailed to your permanent address. Athletics and Sports Camps

NSIC has canceled 2020 spring conference competition and championships and has suspended all intercollegiate athletics activities. Learn More

Wayne State College 2020 camps are currently scheduled to proceed as planned. We are continually monitoring COVID-19 developments, and the health and safety of campers is our primary focus. If it is determined that our camps should be canceled, we will issue campers a full refund (minus Ryzer card processing/convenience fees).

As an added safeguard, our event offers Allianz Registration Protection insurance. For an additional fee, this insurance refunds your full registration fee if camp is held but you cannot attend or must leave early due to a covered injury or illness, which includes COVID-19. Get the details.

Student Mail and Packages

Wayne State can forward your packages to your permanent place of residence or you can pick them up when you come back to campus during normal business hours or by arrangement with Student Services at 402-375-7213.

Student Workers

Students who wish to return to campus to work may do so. Please contact your supervisor to make arrangements.

Title IX Resources

Wayne State College continues to meet Title IX responsibilities and provide services. Most usual procedures will remain the same, but in-person meetings with students will be replaced by video conferences and/or phone calls. Learn more.

Peer tutors are still available! Some tutor hours have been adjusted. Tutoring will be conducted via Zoom meetings. Get the details.
