This form is intended for WSC instructors to request library sessions for CNA100 or ENG102. At least 2 weeks advanced notice is requested. Expect to receive confirmation of your request within 3-4 business days. You will be given the name of your course's librarian instructor and the date and time of the library session.
Sessions are designed to focus on Standard One of ACRL's Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education: The information literate student determines the nature and extent of the information needed.
Covers developing a research strategy (narrowing a topic, creating a research question, identifying keywords and developing search strings), identifying the type of information needed (primary vs. secondary & popular vs. scholarly), and selecting the appropriate sources to use (books, journals, newspapers, web resources, etc). Sessions are typically held in the assigned classroom for the course.
Sessions are designed to focus on Standard Two of ACRL's Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education: The information literate student accesses needed information effectively and efficiently.
Major research tools such as the library catalog and EBSCOhost databases as well as Internet resources, Journal Finder, Interlibrary Loan, and other library tools in order for students to effectively locate and obtain academic resources such as books, ebooks, periodicals, government resources, reference resources, and more.
Sessions are typically held in the library conference room; however, instructors may also request they be held in the course classroom.
