Middle School Music Festival

Open to solos, small ensembles, and large ensembles of students in grades 5-8.

Peterson Fine Arts

The Middle School Music Festival is open to solos, small ensembles, and large ensembles of students in grades 5-8. Each performance will be adjudicated (with two adjudicators for bands and choirs), provided with a I or II rating and given both written and verbal comments. Solos and small ensembles receiving a I rating will also receive a gold ribbon.

How to Participate

Please complete the application form (in Excel) and email it back to Josh Calkin at jocalki1@wsc.edu. (Keeping the application form in electronic form is strongly encouraged.)

Remember to provide a copy of the scores to each of the judges (two for bands and choirs, one for solos and small ensembles), so please plan accordingly.

Event Fees

$10 each for solos and small ensembles

Checks should be made payable to Wayne State College and mailed to Joyce Trevett, School of Arts and Humanities, Wayne State College, 1111 N. Main, Wayne, NE 68787. Please postmark mailed application materials by Friday, Feb. 8.

If the festival should need to be cancelled due to inclement weather, a refunding of half the application fees will be provided.


Lunch will be available in the WSC cafeteria for $7.75 per person. Please indicate on the application form an approximate number of “eaters” so the cafeteria can plan. Please DO NOT pay for these in advance. All checks should be payable to Chartwells and will be paid at the door.
