“Take Your Time” featuring works by artist Terry Ratzlaff of Lincoln, Neb. opens Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 4:30 p.m. in the Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery at Wayne State College. An artist lecture precedes the opening at 3:45 p.m. in Connell Hall, Room 131. Both events are free and open to the public. The exhibit runs through March 19.

Photography and book art dominate Ratzlaff’s artwork with a distinct passion for trains and time. His works highlight single-image sequencing to better interpret modern perceptions of time, history, technological progress, and adverse effects on human consciousness.

Ratzlaff currently serves as assistant professor of digital media at Nebraska Wesleyan University. He also operates The Basement Window, making small edition artist books and boxes. His artistry has been featured in “The New York Times,” “Vanity Fair,” “Bloomberg Businessweek,” “The Wall Street Journal,” “ESPN,” and many other acclaimed publications. Ratzlaff received his M.F.A. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and his B.A. from The Art Institute of Colorado.

The gallery is open Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 3 to 7 p.m. It is closed Saturday. Shows end at noon on closing day.
