Wayne State College celebrates student filmmaking with four short film premieres Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Majestic Theatre. This event also includes three encore presentations. A press event precedes the films at 6:30 p.m. with a question-and-answer session to follow at 8:35 p.m. All are free and open to the public.
Student film premieres include:
- “Between the Shadow and the Soul” – Emma Franco, Papillion, Neb. (producer); Madison Dvorak, Grand Island, Neb. (producer); T’Kayeh Sterling, Wayne, Neb. (director/writer); Alexys Baier, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa (director); and Kaydence Cihacek, Missouri Valley, Iowa (cinematographer)
- “Buried Treasure” – Jacob McCauley, Sioux City, Iowa (producer/director/writer); Blake Bodlak, Ponca, Neb. (cinematographer); and Kaydence Cihacek (cinematographer)
- “The Bittersweet Truth About Parking” – Anja Oelofse, Heidelberg, South Africa (producer/director/writer/cinematographer); and Blake Bodlak (producer/director/writer/cinematographer)
- “A Daze Trip to Norfolk” – Madison Dvorak (producer); Nolan Flanigan, Bellevue, Neb. (director/writer); and Mackinzie Arnholt, Bassett, Neb. (cinematographer)
Encore presentations include “Hope of Art,” “The Thing with Feathers,” and “What Color is the Rainbow.” Each semester, student filmmaking is celebrated with film debuts and encore showings from the previous academic year. Student films are created under the advisement of Dr. Michael G. White, WSC associate professor of film.
