Laura Thornton, Ph.D., is a developmental psychologist and a postdoctoral research fellow at the Boys Town National Research Hospital’s Center for Neurobehavioral Research. Dr. Thornton’s research interests focus on developmental neurobiology.

Thornton’s research interests focus on the developmental neurobiology of callous unemotional traits as well as how callous unemotional traits affect youths’ involvement in antisocial behavior, interactions with peers, and other high-risk behaviors, particularly within the justice systems. Thornton seeks to utilize her first-hand experience from working in juvenile detention and expertise as an applied developmental psychologist to conduct policy-relevant quantitative research to improve the lives of individuals, communities, and society.
