Sally Schwede Shively

Sally Schwede Shively, a 1979 Wayne State graduate, was instrumental in developing the women's track and field program at WSC. She also served as a graduate assistant coach from 1980-1982. Schwede Shively attended WSC from 1975-79. She was one of the first participants in the inaugural women's track program in the spring of 1976, lettering all four years in track and field. Shively was an all-conference performer in the 400 meter dash in 1978 and 1979. After her collegiate days at WSC, Shively served as a program director at the YMCA in Norfolk from 1982-1993 and currently teaches elementary PE in Norfolk and Hadar and coaches girls track at Norfolk Senior High School. Shively is also a prominent volleyball official in northeast Nebraska, entering her 25th year of officiating in the fall of 2005. Sally Schwede Shively was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame in the fall of 1990.
