Leroy Simpson

LeRoy Simpson was a coach at Wayne State from 1968-1997. He started the women's track program at WSC and coached track and field, cross country and was assistant football coach for three years. He was also a professor in the Human Performance and Leisure Studies Division at WSC. In his nearly 30-year tenure, Simpson had three All-Americans in men's track and 11 All-Americans in women's track and won one cross country conference championship. LeRoy and his wife Marian could always be found helping out at many track and field events. LeRoy was the honorary referee for the 1997 Sioux City Relays. LeRoy retired from WSC in 1997 and now resides in Woodland Park, Colorado. Simpson was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame October 17, 2001.
