Al Bahe

Inducted: 1979

Al Bahe graduated from Wayne High School before attending Wayne State. He was a multi-sport standout in both football and basketball while at WSC from 1946-1950. Bahe was a four-year letterwinner in both sports and earned All-Conference honors in football while leading WSC in scoring on the basketball court for two seasons. After graduating from WSC in 1950, he coached at West Point and Central City before beginning a lengthy career at Fremont High School. He coached the Tigers to the 1961 Class A State Title in boys basketball and also served as an assistant football coach (15 years) and head boys golf coach for 11 years. He then served 13 years as athletic director at Fremont High until his retirement in 1989. Bahe was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame February 3, 1979. He also was inducted into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2002. Bahe passed away on May 3, 2008 after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2000. He was 78.
