    What they look for:
    Wayne State College is seeking an analytical, detail-oriented individual to join their team as a Comptroller. The Comptroller will be responsible for the accounting operations of the College and reports directly to the Vice President for Administration & Finance. Specific responsibilities include:

    Here’s what they look for:
    • Prepare and review annual financial statements
    • Serve as main contact between Wayne State and external auditors
    • Implement and maintain internal controls and processes
    • Maintain college’s system of accounts
    • Examine and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports
    • Ensure sufficient cash fund balances for fund accounts
    • Collaborate with Nebraska State College System (NSCS) Office’s Director and Comptrollers from Peru State and Chadron State
    • Prepare various financial reports upon request
    • Provide college personnel with information and training related to accounting as needed
    • Ensure compliance with policies and laws
    • Oversee the posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger
    • Continually seek efficiencies in processes
    • Supervise and support accounting department
    • Responsible for Revenue Bond budgeting
    • Work closely with the Budget Director and Associate Vice President Administration and Finance
    • Serve as College’s purchasing card program coordinator
    • Desire to continually learn
    • Positive, hands-on attitude

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent course work
    • A minimum of three to five years of accounting experience
    • Experience in and thorough knowledge of preparing or auditing financial statements
    • Knowledge of and application of financial accounting standard
    • Satisfactory completion reference and background check process

    • Certified Public Accountant
    • Masters in Accounting or related field
    • Work experience in governmental accounting and/or higher education
    • Experience with SAP accounting system
    • Analytical/problem solving skills and attention to detail
    • Written and verbal communication skills
    • Working knowledge of GASB
    • Experience with PeopleSoft student information systems
