Outlook FAQs

I have a lot of emails. How many emails will Outlook allow me to keep?

All users of the WSC email system are allocated 50GB of space for their mailbox. Faculty or staff may request an archive if they need additional space. Archives are not available to students.

I have a large file to email. What is the maximum email size that I can send?

The maximum email message size that can be sent or received is 140MB, including the size of any attachment(s).

How many people can I email at one time?

The maximum number of recipients you can send to at one time is 500. If you need to send to more than that, place them in a group in your addressbook.

Why can't I set up email forwarding?

Inbox rules that forward email to an external email system are not allowed for security reasons.

I am trying to set up access to WSC email with IMAP4 or POP3 and it is not working.

For security reasons, IMAP4 and POP3 access to mailboxes is disabled by default. If you need to use these protocols you can request access through the Campus Service Center at 402-375-7107 or email [email protected].

In Email, recall or replace an email message after it is sent

With message recall, a message that you sent is retrieved from the mailboxes of the recipients who haven’t yet opened it. You can also substitute a replacement message. For example, if you forgot to include an attachment, you can try to retract the message, and then send a replacement message that has the attachment.

Message recall is available after you click Send when you and the recipient both use Exchange accounts within the same organization. (WSC uses Exchange accounts.)

Note: It is not possible to rescind messages that are sent to email addresses outside your organization.

1. In the folder pane, choose the Sent Items folder.

2. Open the message that you want to recall. You must double-click to open the message. Selecting the message so it appears in the reading pane won't allow you to recall the message.

3. Under the Message tab, choose Actions > Recall This Message.
