Game Room Guide

Getting Started

1. Go to the Information Desk and select the room that you want. Two rooms have a PS4 and one has an Xbox One. All 3 rooms have cable TV and can connect a Student Device (Laptop, other console, etc.)

2. Checkout – game console controllers, TV and sound bar remotes, one game at a time.

    a. Controllers

        i. Both consoles support 4 controllers.

        ii. There are 4 PS4 controllers and 2 Xbox One controllers available for checkout.

        iii. The number of controllers used should be noted on the checkout sheet.

Note: The PS4 controllers have a charging piece on the back side that is necessary for charging and could be very easy to lose.

    b. Remotes include TV and Sound bar

Note: Remotes may be checked out separately from the gaming accessories if they wish to watch TV or use their own device instead of playing on the console.

Common Uses

3. Power - 3 things are required to be powered on for everything to work properly.

    a. TV

        i. Press the power button on the TV remote.

        ii. There is also a power button located on the back of the right side of the TV.

        iii. Press the input button on the TV controller to select an input. Use the arrows to select the correct input. The input option will be grayed out if there is not anything connected to it. There is also an input button located on the back of the right side of the TV.

            1. TV – Watch TV

            2. HDMI 1 – Console connection

            3. HDMI 2 – Student Device

Note: The speakers on each TV have been purposefully disabled so that there is no echo from the sound bar.

Note: The TV is set to auto shut down each night at 10 PM. This is in case a student or desk worker forgets to turn them off before leaving for the night.

Note: The TV settings are locked. To have any settings changed please see the Information Desk.

    b. Sound Bar

        i. The sound bar will normally detect the TV and turn itself on.

        ii. Press the Power button on the sound bar remote if the bar does not turn on.

        iii. There is also a power button located on the top of the sound bar.

    c. Console

        i. The Xbox One is powered on by pressing the white Xbox logo on the front of the console, or by holding the Xbox button on a controller that has already been synced with the console.

        ii. The PS4 is powered on by pressing the power button located on the front of the console. The console can be powered on by pressing the PlayStation button on the controller, but it will not work if the controller was previously synced in another room.

Note: PS4s and Xbox Ones have a 1 hour auto-off function that will shut down the console if it has been in its sleep state for that long. The controllers auto-off after 10 minutes of non-use.

    d. Student Device

        i. There is an HDMI and Ethernet cable on the right-hand side of the table. Students can use this to play their own devices on the TVs.

        ii. They will need to select the HDMI 2 source when using their own device.

4. Controller - If the controller is not already on and connected

        i. The PS4 controllers will need to be synced again if they transfer rooms.

            1. See Controller Syncing

        ii. The Xbox One controllers should not need to be synced since there is only one console.

        iii. Students may bring additional controllers if they wish to play with more people.

    b. Press the Xbox or PlayStation button on the front of the controller to connect the controller to the console. 

    c. Refer to the Controller Syncing help sheet for more information if the controller is not connecting.

5. Sign in / Add Account

    a. Refer to the Adding + Removing Account help sheet for more information.

When you are done

6. Remove Account

    a. Refer to the Adding + Removing Account help sheet for more information on deleting an account.

7. Power Down – Student is finished and leaving the room to check everything back in.

    a. Console

        i. Press the Xbox logo on the front to power down the console.

            1. Pressing and holding the Xbox guide button will ask you if you want to turn off the console or the controller.

        ii. Press the PS4 power button on the front to power down the console.

            1. Pressing and holding the PS button will ask you if you want to log out, turn off the console, or turn off the controller.

    b. Sound Bar

        i. Use the sound bar remote or press the power button on the top of the bar to turn off the power.

        ii. The sound bar does not auto-off even though it comes on with the TV.

    c. TV

        i. Use the TV remote or press the power button on the back of the TV to turn off the power.

8. Return Everything

    a. Controllers, TV and Sound bar remotes, Game

    b. PS4’s wireless charging adapter must be present and put back onto the controller before being returned to the charging station.
