About Lambda Pi Eta is the official National Communication Honor Society, open to communication majors at Wayne State College (mass communication, speech communication, theatre). The name Lambda Pi Eta represents what Aristotle described in his Rhetoric as the three modes of persuasion: Logos meaning logic; Pathos relating to emotion; and Ethos defined as character, credibility, and ethics.

The goal of Lambda Pi Eta is to encourage outstanding academic achievement and promote the dedication to excellence in the field of communication. New members are inducted each spring. Faculty, parents and friends are invited. All members and future members are encouraged to submit outstanding papers and present them at a state, regional, or national communication conference.

In order to be inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, a student must:

- Have completed at least 60 semester credit hours of college course work
- Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 in all college courses
- Have completed the equivalent of at least 12 semester credit hours in communications courses
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.25 in all communication courses
- Be in good standing and demonstrate commitment to the field of communication

Lambda Pi Eta at Wayne State College is committed to serving the campus and the community. An active organization, students are primarily involved with find-raising for a variety of charities and programs. Lambda Pi Eta students actively raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis and the Ronald McDonald House. Currently, they are involved in raising money for international travel for Wayne State College communication undergraduate students to study in Costa Rica. And as on-going scholars, Lambda Pi Eta students routinely raise travel funds for members to present research at state, regional and national conventions.

Dedicated to the pursuit of academic excellence, members of Lambda Pi Eta who present research at state, regional and national conventions are well-prepared for the rigors of graduate school and the demands of professional careers.
