Connecting  Xbox360 logo to the Wireless Access Point

This document will help you test your internet connection and help you set up your wired or wireless internet connection. Make sure your Xbox 360 is connected to your TV, turned on and, if you are using a wired connection, the Ethernet cable is plugged into the Wireless Access Point. (You must provide your own Ethernet cable. They can be purchased at any bookstore or Shopko.)


To Test your Internet Connection

1.    From the Home screen, move over to the Settings menu and select System.

2.    Within System Settings, move down to select Network Settings.

3.    Select whether you are connecting a Wired or a Wireless Network. (A wired connection is one that uses an Ethernet cord connected directly into the Wireless Access Point.)

4.    To test your internet connection, select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

5.    A box will appear stating that everyone will be signed out. Select Yes.

6.    A Test Status menu will appear.

7.    Then a Connection Warning box will appear. You can read the More Info by clicking A (Select) on the controller, or scroll down and select Cancel and click A (Select) on the controller.

If it is live and working the connection will look like this.

Make sure you have registered your Xbox 360 on the Device Registration Page. (See the Device Registration tutorial.) If you have already registered your device you may need to set up your internet connection. (See the instructions listed below.)



To Set Up an Internet Connection

1.    From the Home screen, move over to the Settings menu and select System.

2.    Within System Settings, move down to select Network Settings.

3.    Select whether you are connecting a Wired or a Wireless Network. (A wired connection is one that uses an Ethernet cord connected directly into the Wireless Access Point.)

4.    Within Network Settings, select Configure Network.

5.    Within Configure Network, your Basic Settings should look like the pictures below.
