Make Me Admin

 
As we review our IT security profile for campus, one of the recommendations from auditors and analysts is to not have accounts running in administrator mode on local Windows PCs (meaning offices, labs, notebooks, and tablets – this does not affect mobile devices. Currently all of our WSC computers run in administrator mode all the time.  That means if your machine happens to pick up a piece of malware through a malicious webpage or e-mail attachment, that malware is ALSO running as administrator and can easily install in the background without you knowing.  
 
Best practice is to run as a ‘normal’ user and only become an administrator when needed to install software. We found a solution that gives all of you the ability to install software in Admin mode temporarily and lets you run as a ‘normal’ user the rest of the time.
