U.S. News & World Report (usnews.com) listed Wayne State College as a Top Public College/University in the Midwest for 2025. According to U.S. News & World Report, public colleges and universities typically operate under the supervision of state governments and are funded, in part, by tax dollars and subsidies from the state. As a result, these universities often offer discounted tuition to residents of their states. Public schools run the gamut from small liberal arts colleges to large research institutions. Methodology for the rank included 17 factors, including measurement of financial and educational resources for students and faculty, student debt ratio, starting salaries, graduation and retention rates, and peer assessment.
