Dr. Barb Hayford teaches biology classes at Wayne State College.
She is also the director of the A. Jewel Schock Museum of Natural History and the curator of invertebrates for the museum.
She has served as the principle investigator for the National Science Foundation funded study, "RUI: An Ecological Guild-Based Biodiversity Inventory and Survey of the Aquatic Non-biting Midges (Diptera:Chironomidae) of the Altai and Hangai Mountain Drainages, Mongolia." Her most recent NSF-funded project is "Collaborative Research: Hierarchical Functioning of River Macrosystems in Temperate Steppes - From Continental to Hydrogeomorphic Patch Scales."
