2010 Family Day and Armed Services
Wayne State College hosted Family Day on Sept. 11. The event included entertainment, campus tours, brunch and Wildcats football. Dave Evans, balloon artist and magician, created balloon sculptures and delivered a roving magic show to families. The Wayne State athletic department held Armed Services Appreciation Day during Family Day activities. About 150 service members from the 189th Transportation Company from Wayne and Norfolk attended the game as the Wildcats pounced all over Minnesota-Crookston, 68-6. Veterans from the Norfolk Veterans Home also attended the game, five of whom are Wayne State College alumni. Members of the 189th presented the colors for the National Anthem before the game, had a representative for the coin toss and displayed an Army vehicle in the stadium for fans. The day’s activities also included entertainment by the Wildcat Marching Band, flag corps and yell squad. Inflatable games and activities for kids of all ages were available during the game.
