Homecoming Coronation and Royalty 2009
Wayne State College students Kate Fitzgerald of Norfolk and Joe Brogie of Wayne were crowned Homecoming queen and king Sept. 28 on campus. Fitzgerald is the daughter of Mark and Jacqueline Fitzgerald. She is a communications and Spanish major. She participates as Navigators president, president of Sigma Delta Pi National Spanish Honor Society, vice president of Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honor Society and a STRIDE (Students Taking Responsibility in Development and Education) tutor. Fitzgerald is a Neihardt Scholar and an ambassador. She participates in Cardinal Key honor society and Alpha Lambda Delta academic honorary. She has been listed on the dean's list for academic achievement and was chosen as the 2007 Port of Sioux City River-Cade Queen. Brogie is the son of Ed Brogie and Joan Rempfer of Wayne. He is a martial arts instructor and participates in health science and biology clubs. Brogie served as a Navigator.
Royal court members included Allison Friedmann, Kristin Soper, Lindsey Carothers, Britni Korth, Brynn Kunhart, Amanda Johnson - 2008 royal court member, King Logan McPhillips, Tyler Jensen, Josh Riesberg, Ian Engebretsen, Andy Bachman and Christopher Weddel. Crown bearers were Halle Laursen, daughter of Karl and Jen Laursen, and Brooks Kneifl, son of Scott and Jen Kneifl.
