Q: How
can I apply for admission to WSC?
A: Obtain an official application form
from the Office of Admissions or print
the application form from the college website.
Submit the completed application to
the WSC Office of Admissions, accompanied by the application
processing fee, valid for up to one year from the time of
initial application.
Q: How early should I apply for
admission to WSC?
A: The completed application form and
the application processing fee may be submitted as early as
three months prior to enrollment. The processing fee is valid
for up to one year from initial application date.
Q: Am I required to declare a
major when I submit my application?
A: On your application form you may
either identify a major or indicate that you are entering
as undeclared.
Q: Do I need to submit a high
school transcript?
A: High school transcripts are not
required for admission of transfer students to WSC. However,
official transcripts from each postsecondary institution you
have attended must be submitted.
Q: Are ACT/SAT scores required?
A: No, ACT/SAT scores are not required
for transfer students.
Q: What is the maximum number
of credit hours that can be transferred?
A: Sixty-six hours may be transferred
from an accredited 2-year institution.
You may transfer an unlimited number of hours from an accredited
4-year institution.
Q: How and when do I find out
if my credits transferred?
A: Evaluation is done and mailed after
the Admissions Office receives official transcripts.
Q: What GPA is needed to transfer?
A: 2.00
Q: Can I be provisionally admitted
to WSC and start taking classes before my official transcripts
arrive?
A: No.

Q: When can I register for classes?
A: Contact the Admissions Office for an appointment with an
advisor.
Q: How do I know what classes
to take?
A: Your advisor will assist you in
deciding what classes to take based on your goals and WSC
graduation requirements.
Q: How will I know who my advisor
is?
A: Your advisor will be a faculty member
assigned by the department that contains your program of study
(major). If you have not decided on a program of study, your
advisor will be assigned by the Advising Center. If you are
unsure of who your advisor is, you may request that information
from your program department or the Advising Center. Call

Q: Is there an orientation for
transfer students?
A: Yes. Transfer students are encouraged
to attend a one-day orientation the weekend prior to the first
day of classes each semester. For more information about that
orientation, contact the Office of the Vice-President and
Dean of Student Life. Call 402-375-7213 or 1-800-228-9972
ext. 7213.
Q: What resources at WSC help
transfer students make connections with other students?
A: Orientation is an excellent way
to connect with other WSC transfer students. In addition,
the General Studies course, Succeeding in College (GST 110),
provides opportunity for transfer students to get to know
other new students on campus. Joining a student organization
that reflects your interests is another way to establish connections
with other students.
Q: Is there a course that will
help me adapt to college life?
A: Yes. Succeeding in College (GST
110) is designed especially for you and other new students.
Q: What is the cost of attending
WSC?
A: For cost
information, please visit the WSC website.
Q: How do I apply for financial
aid?
A: Please visit the financial
aid site for information and an application form.
Q: When should the financial
aid forms be completed?
A: We have a priority deadline of June
1. Students completing forms after this date will be awarded
according to aid available.
Q: If I need help in completing
financial aid forms, will anyone at WSC be available?
A: Please make an appointment with
the WSC Financial Aid Office for help in completing forms.

Q: I am interested in taking
a course at another college or university to transfer back
to WSC. What do I do?
A: Check with the WSC Registrar's Office
to find out if the identified course will transfer for credit.
Q: Can I improve my GPA by taking
courses to transfer back to WSC?
A: No. Transfer grades are not included
in the WSC cumulative grade point calculation.
Q: Tell me about housing for
Wayne State College students.
A: Single students may live on campus
in shared dormitory style rooms. Private dormitory rooms are
available on a limited basis and upperclass students are served
first. Students who wish to live off-campus may contact the
Morning Shopper, at 1-800-672-3418 (or at 402-375-3850), for
more information about off-campus rooms, apartments or houses. |
