In February of 2014, teams of young scienctists from all over the great state of Nebraska will gather at Wayne State College for the 2014 Nebraska Science Bowl. The first Saturday in February will find Wayne State filled with middle school teams and coaches. The very next Saturday the same venue will host the high school students and coaches. The competition is fun, fast-paced, and intense as the winning team at each level will receive an all-expense paid trip to the National Science Bowl in Washington D.C. later in April 2014.
The goal of the Nebraska Science Bowl, as well as the National Science Bowl, is to encourage students to excel in science and mathematics. Many of these students will continue their education beyond high school and will have a career in an area of science and mathematics.
The opening ceremonies will begin at 9 am, followed by a round robin competition from 9:30 am to 12 noon involving all of the teams split into four divisions. The top four teams in each division will then advance to the double elimination competition, which will begin at 1 pm. Medals will be awared to the top 4 teams at each event.
