HHPS: Featured Faculty
Kris Hinnerichs Assistant Professor
Kris Hinnerichs attended Wayne State College and earned a BS degree in Vocational Business Education in 2001 and a MSE in Exercise Science in 2003. While completing her MSE degree, Kris worked as an athletic training graduate assistant for the Athletic Department and an adjunct faculty member for the HHPS Department. Upon graduation Kris was hired as a certified athletic trainer by the Center of Neurosciences, Orthopedics & Spine (CNOS) in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, where she provided athletic training and strength and conditioning services to Wayne State College, Wayne High School, and a number of surrounding schools in northeast Nebraska. In 2006 Kris began her current position as an Assistant Professor in the HHPS Department where she advises the Applied Human and Sport Physiology major and assists with the Exercise Science program. She is also the advisor for the WSC Shape Club and a co-advisor for the WSC Pre-Physical Therapy Club. She is planning to graduate with her PhD in Athletic Training from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, Utah, in December, 2010. Kris’s research interests include exercise and the role it plays in glucose and insulin dynamics, injury prevention and rehabilitation, and strength and conditioning, especially how these topics pertain to females. In order to stay active in the field of sports medicine, Kris still provides athletic training and strength and conditioning services for CNOS on an as-needed basis. |
