The Department of Health, Human Performance, and Sport is committed to Wayne State College's role in regional development while focusing on student learning and knowledge application. We promote healthy lifestyles and prepare students in fields related to sport and health enhancement. The department focuses on programs in Applied Human and Sport Physiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, and Sport Management. Our faculty is committed to excellence in teaching and incorporating scholarly activity within the learning environment.
The program areas in our department serve to provide students with a solid liberal arts education while preparing them for a wide variety of careers. Undergraduates who select our disciplines for study go on to pursue occupations ranging from teaching to public service to government employment. Many of our majors have successfully sought out further education in graduate or professional schools.
The Department of Life Sciences offers students career choices and instruction in biotechnology, organismal biology, environmental biology, or biology education.
Our department consists of faculty in chemistry, earth and atmospheric sciences,
mathematics and physics. We offer many programs of study, including pre-professional programs in engineering, pharmacy, and medicine. We strive to create a total quality educational experience in the physical sciences and mathematics for all students by constantly improving teaching, programs, and facilities as well as being role models in our civic and professional activities.
The Department of Sociology, Psychology, and Criminal Justice is located within historic Connell Hall in the heart of the Wayne State College Campus.
