Sociology, Psychology, & Crminal Justice

WSC Criminal Justice Association

The Wayne State Criminal Justice Association is open to all criminal justice majors and minors. The group's activities included field trips, speakers, service projects and preparing students for the career field. Recent activities included a field trip to the federal penitentiary at Leavenworth, Kansas and the Kansas City Police Department. Speakers have included law enforcement officers, officials of the Nebraska Department of Corrections, the FBI and a nationally recognized expert on prison gangs.

Service activities included roadside trash pickup and collecting books and children's clothing for the Nebraska Women's prison. For more information, contact Dr. Jason Karsky, CH 206, 375-7139.

Psychology and Sociology Club

The Psychology and Sociology Club is open to any student with an interest in psychology or sociology.

Club members have been involved in the following activities:

• participated in WSC Homecoming and WSC Open House
• sponsored guest speakers
• held a faculty panel discussion on graduate school
• made monetary donations to various organizations
• met to watch and discuss films that address psychological and/or sociological issues (e.g., A Beautiful Mind; Crash)
• provided monetary support for the regional Great Plains Students' Psychology Conference and the Journal of Psychology Inquiry (an undergraduate research journal)
• held Halloween and other parties for the residents of the local Care Center
• participated in social functions, including pizza parties and bowling.
