The Department of Counseling and Special Education is a department committed to preparing professional counselors, human service professionals and special educators. We have a long tradition in offering graduate counseling programs which are highly respected across Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and beyond. We pride in offering student centered instruction to individuals interested in the areas of community counseling, student affairs in higher education and school counseling. Beyond our graduate level counseling program we also have a unique undergraduate human services counseling program which is designed to prepare students to work in a variety of helping and human service professions. The Special Education program in our department is collaborative and consultation based professional preparation program. The program is committed in preparing highly qualified special educators in order to serve in ever increasing demand for professional educators in the area of special education and related areas.
