CTIS - Computer Information Systems Minor


The Computer Information Systems minor is a complementary area that exposes students to basic computer information systems concepts. The minor also helps to prepare students for advanced degrees in computer information systems.


A minor must include a minimum of 12 hours unduplicated by the student’s major(s).


Courses required for the Computer Information Systems minor are as follows:


BUS 360 Management Theory & Practice (3)

CIS 132 Prin of Computing & Info Sys (3)

(May substitute CIS 130 Intro to Comp Info Sys (3) if required in student’s major)

CIS 140 Introduction to Microcomputer Operating Systems (3)

352 Structured Business Programming (3)

372 Computer Hardware (3)


Plus 6 hours selected from the following courses:

CIS 271 Networking II (3)

CIS 346 Intro to MVS/JCL (3)

CIS 350 CICS Application Program (3)

CIS 353 Adv Struct Business Program (3)

CIS 356 Visual BASIC (3)

CIS 375 Intro to E-Commerce (3)

CIS 430 Management Info Systems (3)


Total Semester Hours 21 credit hours
