Computer Technology & Information Systems Department
The Computer Technology and Information Systems (CTIS) department at Wayne State College takes pride in the quality of instruction and advising it provides. The CTIS department offers Computer Information Systems (CIS) and Computer Science (CSC) academic programs and is housed in Gardner Hall. Students have ready access to the latest technology in a variety of computer labs and instructional classrooms, as well as to CTIS faculty. The CTIS faculty members maintain close relationships with their computing and information systems counterparts in business, industry, and academia. Through the efforts of the faculty and a twelve-member CTIS advisory board, the academic programs are kept relevant to the needs of the real world. Many of the representatives on the advisory board are from firms that hire our Computer Information Systems and/or Computer Science graduates.
The CTIS department also works with a variety of other Wayne State College offices and various external agencies to provide additional opportunities for our students. Among these opportunities are placement services, resume preparation, interview practice, Cooperative Education experiences, internships, a practicum course, student-to-business consulting, service learning projects, and numerous other initiatives that supplement or enhance the student’s learning and preparation for employment after graduation. Several student groups also exist within the School of Business and Technology. Computer Science and CIS students may join the WSC Student Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The ACM is one of the oldest and most prestigious computing organizations in existence. |
