BSEC - Scholarships & Financial Aid
Wayne State College is committed to providing a quality affordable education for its students. There are several types of financial assistance available for Wayne State students, including grants, loans, work-study, and scholarships. The aid packages are composed of money from Pell grants, SEOG grants, SSIG grants, Perkins loans, Stafford student loans, PLUS loans and a variety of scholarships. Various scholarships and their amounts available to current business and economics majors for the 2007-2008 academic year were:
CHARLES B. GRIFFIN AND FLORENCE KINDLER GRIFFIN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP The scholarship is awarded to a full-time business major. The student is to demonstrate financial need.

ROY D. CHRISTIANSEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: $1,310
FARMERS AND MERCHANTS STATE BANK OF WAYNE SCHOLARSHIP The Farmers and Merchants State Bank of Wayne Scholarship is awarded to a Wayne-Carroll High School graduate enrolled full-time in business. Preference is given to a business education major. The recipient must be enrolled full-time with at least 60 semester hours earned with a minimum 2.7 GPA.

NEBRASKA SOCIETY OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS SCHOLARSHIPS
Amount: Two $750 scholarships
CHRISTENSEN BROZEK FALTYS, PC ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP The recipient of this scholarship should be an accounting major from hometowns within a 60 mile radius of Norfolk going into their junior year. Recipients must carry a GPA of at least 3.0. First preference to accounting majors in the 150 hour program.
Amount: Two $750 scholarships ROBERT JORDAN SCHOLARSHIP The Robert Jordan Scholarship is awarded to a full-time business major whose permanent residence is in Wayne County, Nebraska. The recipient must demonstrate two or more of the following characteristics: financial need, superior academic performance, outstanding personal characteristics, or promise of significant service to the college community.

STATE NATIONAL BANK SCHOLARSHIP Amount: $500
WSC MARKETING FACULTY ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP Awarded to a marketing major, advertising major or advertising minor. Recipient must be full-time and have a minimum GPA of 3.2 based on at least 60 hours of undergraduate course work.
Amount: $500
THE JIM & VERA HUMMEL SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship is awarded to a full-time non-traditional student majoring in business administration. The student must be a junior with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Amount: $435
DELTA SIGMA PI/KEN HALSEY SCHOLARSHIP Dr. Ken Halsey was a professor in the Division of Business from 1971-74, 1987-98. He served as interim President of Wayne State College for the 1998-99 academic year. In 1995, he was a recipient of the Nebraska State College System “Teacher Excellence Award” and was named “National Advisor of the Year” by the Professional Fraternity Association.

BARBARA K. KANTER SCHOLARSHIP The recipient of this scholarship shall be a business major with financial need. First reference to a student from a rural background.
